At course end each student will given an individual writing assignment to complete and email to

the online facilitator for individual comment and marking.

 

Each student will also receive a detailed Personal Evaluation to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses, along with suggestions to help them improve their writing skills.

 

Completing students will receive a digital certificate listing the topics they studied.

SESSION 2.

 

Planning the Writing Project

 

Students will learn how to set objectives and plan the project.

 

The will learn how to develop an Action Plan and how to research their project material.

 

Students will be download a number of PowerPoint presentations and course notes to assist them with their studies.

 

 

 

SESSION 4.

 

Writing Effective Dialogue

 

Students will learn how to create the correct voice to ensure each character has the exact attitude the author intends.

 

Students will listen to a range of Podcast lectures and develop a number of exercises from them.

 

Students will examine a number of dialogue styles to learn how to develop positive voices in the writing.

 

 

SESSION 6.

 

News Report and Journalism

 

Student will examine the difference between writing creative prose and writing in a Journalistic style.

 

Students will undertake a number of short exercises and receive feed-back on how their work could be improved and strengthened.

 

Students will view a number of videos and access a number of websites to expand their knowledge.

 

 

 

 

SESSION 8.

 

Review and Tips

 

Students will be provided with a number of useful tips to help them strengthen their skills.

They will attend an online forum to discuss the course and what they have gained from it.

Each student will prepare an Action Plan to help them identify and set goals for their future writing project.

Students will be provided with a range of video links featuring established authors discussing their craft and suggestions about how new writers can improve their skills.

 

 

SESSION 3.

 

Creating Believable Characters

 

Students will examine effective ways to make their characters take on real life characteristics.

 

They will study methods to ensure their characters display the mannerisms that will make the reader know and understand them.

 

Students will learn how to ensure their characters are believable and convey the image the author intends.

 

 

SESSION 5.

 

Script Writing

 

Students will extend their knowledge of dialogue and apply it to a short film script.

 

Students will write a short script from an outline the Facilitator will supply.

 

Students will attend an Online Forum to discuss their work and share ideas.

 

They will also discuss how they developed their work and share their writing experiences.

 

 

 

SESSION 7.

 

Creative Writing ~ Techniques

 

Students will examine a number of ways to develop their writing skills and make them more professional.

They will examine a number of styles and techniques to increase their writing ability.
